On Oct. 11, Ms. Alexandra Curtis announced her candidacy for Student Association president in the Schine Atrium. Many members of the student body appeared to hear the heart-warming announcement while several endorsers accompanied her. One of the official, premier endorsers of the Curtis campaign is the Kappa Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc.
The Distinguished Dons of the illustrious fraternity have officially declared themselves as supporters for the Curtis campaign after observing the great put forth by Curtis prior to her declaring to run for office.
As the current vice president of SA, Curtis has done outstanding work during the 56th Legislative Session, which made it a goal to bridge the gap between SA and the students of Syracuse University. Curtis has made it her priority to always be a friend and advocate for her fellow students. She has exceeded this capacity as she is seen as a mentor and visionary to students on this campus. She has been an avid supporter of our brotherhood and engagement with the student body.
Throughout her time in SA, Curtis has ensured students from every home college would be equally represented in assembly through her ability to recruit and retain membership. She understands just how important the voices of the students are to the improvement of our campus. We feel that her efforts with the implementation of Impact Week on campus support our fraternity’s values of community engagement.
Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc. is a greek organization that was established on Dec. 26, 1931. During the fall semester of 1994, a group of men helped establish this distinguished fraternity on the SU campus, which is now the Kappa Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc.
During their time on campus, these distinguished groups of men have held a series of academic programs, along with successful philanthropic work for UNICEF. Due to their success, they have been awarded Chapter of the Year by their Nationals in 2009, while earning Philanthropic Fraternity of the Year and Excellence in University/Community Relations from Syracuse University in 2010.
The Kappa Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha will be hosting an event titled “El Trujillato: La Era de Rafael Trujillo” on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building, room 107.
